SOLDIERS DIED IN THE GREAT WAR CD

Naval and Military Press late last year released a CD. On it was all of the volumes of Soldiers Died in the Great War. What was important was the fact that with it came a search engine which allowed you to toss the data around with ease. Earlier this year an update was released that improved the searches and printouts, it also allows you to print out a memorial scroll. Being an avid medal collector I bought a copy pre release as it promised much. Not jst for my medal collection, but all of my work on writing articles, for instance if I wanted to know how many casualties there were for the 2nd N.Fus on 12-12-15 I could easily find out.

What does the CD do?

You can search under any string that you can think of, really, search by unit, rank, day of death, method of death, by residence, enlistment or birth. The search string is endless, it really takes very little time to throw the data around and get a print out. In my opinion, for the serious WW1 enthusiast/ historian, this is invaluble. It does not cover the Navy, or the RAF, but I will expect that at some point this will be included.

This volume compliments perfectly the effort of the CWGC who have their database on line.
